Client: Cliffs of Moher
Date: September 2006
Grass Roofed Visitor Centre on the west coast of Ireland, set into the hillside. The visitor centre is a unique cave-like structure facing the Atlantic Ocean.
The bespoke turf had to blend in with the surrounding area, and at the same time needed to be reinforced with a heavy three-dimensional netting called Enkamat, used in many erosion control projects.
The seed mix for the turf was harvested from plants near the Cliffs of Moher, shipped to our farm and grown as a turf before returning to the cliffs 12 weeks later.
Paul Mansfield of Maccaferri stated, "Our clients in Ireland were very pleased with the outcome after using the Enkazon and were particularly pleased to be able to install turf that was grown using seed from the cliffs. It is now perfectly in tune with the surrounding area"
