Client: Geoff & Ann Shaw
Project: Follers Manor, East Sussex
Date: September/October 2009
Set at the eastern end of the newly designated South Downs Country Park, Follers Manor was featured in the Channel 4 programme Landscape Man, in May 2010.
This was a project that offered the opportunity to demonstrate just how beautiful a wildflower meadow can look when integrated into an innovative modern design. Full of flair and elegance, the design by Ian Kitson, Landscape Architect, displayed distinct echoes of Antoni Guadi’s Parc Guell with an English twist.
When we were first approached in May 2009, we only had a vague idea of how glorious the finished garden would be. Ian’s design featuring a wildlife pond at the bottom of an intricate winding path lent it self naturally to having a wildflower meadow which creates a seamless vista against a backdrop of East Sussex countryside. The speed at which Wild Flower Turf can transform an area from soil to an established meadow appealed to all involved in the project.
"The coverage on the program did not show the meadow in it's full glory, but it does look fantastic." wrote our client Geoff Shaw
Ian Kitson, Landscape Architect who designed the gardens, revisited in June 2010 and enthused "The meadow looks simply spectacular."
