RHS Wisley in Surrey has a new attraction! Open for just over a year, the wonderful Wildlife Garden is a one-acre bug and bee-friendly haven that has been getting rave reviews.
Part of the new £35m “Home of Gardening Science” at RHS Wisley, this amazing garden was designed by RHS Chelsea Gold medal winner, Ann-Marie Powell, and also features our very own Meadowscape Pro™.
The inspiration for the garden design was the wing of a bee, with the space divided up into accessible segments with the aim to encourage visitors to put nature at the heart of their own gardens.
Alongside the planting of 200 trees, all the plants within the Wildlife Garden have been chosen from the RHS Plants for Pollinators list. Two large pools provide significant space for aquatic and marginal species while a mini-model garden shows how to create a wildlife-friendly garden at home.
With an emphasis on demonstrating how nature and gardens are inextricably linked, the Wildlife Garden also features a chestnut and willow sculpture by Tom Hare which provides an enormous habitat and a cosy home to all manner of insects, as well as a bird hide that provides a perfect spot to take in the view of the surrounding flora and fauna.
