The Green Infrastructure Partnership is a network of 2,000+ people and organisations that support the creation, enhancement and promotion of green infrastructure in the UK. Wildflower Turf Ltd is proud to sponsor this wonderful initiative alongside the likes of Sport England and the Landscape Institute.
The website is worth a look, with links to a Green Infrastructure Events Calender and a Green Infrastructure Resource Library. You can also find current opportunities to access funding for green infrastructure projects in the UK and the GIP also summarise recent policy announcements for Green Infrastructure in England.
On the subject of Green Infrastructure, it would be remiss not to acknowledge the Levelling Up Parks Fund. Last year the UK Government announced a total of £39 million to refurbish parks in areas of the country with the lowest access to green space.
Over the past two years, access to parks and green space has become increasingly sought after, with the pandemic emphasising the importance of health and well-being. This new investment initiative will help to ensure that everyone in the country has access to a quality park, regardless of where they live.
Alongside the existing £9m UK-wide Levelling Up Parks Fund (which provides direct grants to deliver over 100 green spaces in the communities with the lowest access), a new £30m parks fund will deliver up to £1m to at least 30 local parks in England for refurbishment with an emphasis on facilities for young families.
Dozens of schemes across the UK have already been awarded funding as part of this levelling up project, with the aim of creating jobs, driving growth and making sure that “people feel enormous pride in the places that they call home”.
The Levelling Up Fund thus far has awarded £1.7bn to projects in October 2021 and another £2.1bn in January 2023, with the North-West of England receiving the greater percentage of the funding on offer.
