Our team is growing, our production area is expanding, and we are also now members of GRO, the Green Roof Organisation!
GRO is an independent not-for-profit Trade Association representing the UK Green, Blue and BioSolar Roofing industries. The organisation develops guidance documents as well as promoting the adoption of Green/Blue/BioSolar roofing technologies within the built environment.
Members come in all shapes and sizes, and include manufacturers of waterproofing systems, suppliers of Green/Blue/BioSolar systems and components, specialist contractors from the roofing and landscape sectors, and associates including other trade associations, NGO’s, insurance companies, academia, ecologists, designers and architects.
There is a wealth of information on the GRO website, including a number of short, instructional videos which can be viewed here.
GRO also have a part-time Technical Officer who can assist with any green roof technical question you may have. (E-mail
technical@greenrooforganisation.org for assistance.)
Significantly, GRO produce a Green Roof Code of Best Practice for the UK, which has gained widespread acceptance in the construction market, being used as a reference document by standards bodies, specifiers, manufacturers and contractors alike. The new 2021 Anniversary edition of the code is available here and the cover features our very own Wildflower Turf® adorning the roof of Leeds Skelton Lakes Services.
In other news, we have recently joined forces with Living Roofs Academy (Bridgman & Bridgman) and Irrigation Engineers Ltd to deliver face-to-face Green Roof training. We have two dates available in November (Wednesday 23rd November & Thursday 24th November ) and this training is a great way to upskill and try your hand at installation on our new simulated green roof ‘rigs’ using sedum and Wildflower Turf®.
Our new course has proven very popular, with 100% of previous attendees stating they would recommend the training to other landscaping professionals.
