How do I prepare my existing grassland to install a product from the Enhance Wildflower Biodiversity range?

Here’s a quick guide to prepping your existing grassland:

1. Mow it Low: Cut the existing vegetation down to a maximum height of 25mm (roughly 1 inch).
2. Clear the Cuttings: Remove the mown material to create space for the wildflower seeds to germinate.
3. Rake the Soil: Give the soil a good raking to create a rough surface and remove any remaining thatch (dead plant material). This allows for better seed contact with the soil.

We recommend allowing 3 – 18 months (depending on time of install) for the wildflowers to fully establish after installing the product.

Absolutely! All of the products within the Enhance range can be used together to maximize the benefit for your existing wildflower areas. This allows you to target a wider variety of pollinators by combining mixes like Enhance Bees and Enhance Butterflies in the same area.

When is the best time to install?

For most products in the Enhance range, the best time for installation is either spring or autumn. This allows for optimal germination and establishment of the wildflower seeds.

However, there’s an exception:
Enhance Grass Control: For this specific product, we recommend installation only in autumn.

Yes! Collection for each of the Enhance range products is available from our Hampshire site near Basingstoke on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays for FREE. However, this needs to be arranged and your order needs to be paid for in advance.

Can the Enhance range be used on slopes?

Yes, however ideally do not use it on slopes steeper than 30 degrees. However, close monitoring is crucial during establishment. Heavy rain could cause wash away or uneven thickness.
