Client: Paultons Park
Project: Peppa Pig World
Date: May 2010
Size: 1,250m²
Architects HPW Partnership, designed this new themed area at Paultons Park in Hampshire. As part of this project there is a “12,000 sq ft indoor play area providing a brand new space for visitors to take cover on wet days, and the largest Peppa Pig dedicated shop in the country”! HPW had specified a green roof and recommended Wildflower Roof Turf. Paultons Park had used our turf in the past and were keen to go with our system.
Owner and Managing Director of Paultons Park, Richard Mancey and project manager Keith Ashley, met up with James Hewetson-Brown to talk through this exciting new project, and to discuss how the proposed green roof could be tackled. BBS Green Roofing won the contract to install the roof.
First to be installed were 2,357 bags of our high quality substrate along with 100m³ loose substrate to give the wildflower roots something to knit into and thrive on. Next an automated irrigation system was installed, and finally, 1,250m² of Wildflower Turf was duly laid on the roof.
Peppa Pig World opened Easter 2011
“Gary Wilburn of HPW Architects stated ‘The Wildflower Roof Turf at Paultons Park looked fantastic last summer. We are now looking forward to next spring, but in the meantime see how good it all looks in the snow.”
